PM Shehbaz, Saudi crown prince discuss regional situation amid Iran war

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif met Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, in Jeddah on Thursday.

According to official details, Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during the meeting.

At the outset of the meeting, the prime minister conveyed his best wishes to Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and expressed deep appreciation for the Kingdom’s long-standing support for Pakistan.

He reiterated Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia and assured the Kingdom of Islamabad’s strong support during the current challenging times. During the meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on recent developments in the region and agreed to continue working closely to promote peace and stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the Saudi Crown Prince that Pakistan would always stand firmly by Saudi Arabia and would continue making efforts to achieve the shared objective of regional peace and stability.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Jeddah on a brief official visit to Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Upon arrival at the Royal Terminal of the Jeddah International Airport, the prime minister was received by Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, Consul General in Jeddah Syed Mustafa Rabbani and other diplomatic officials were also present to welcome him.
