PM Shehbaz reviews Danish Schools Project, orders swift completion and smart education upgrades

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting on the progress of Danish Schools and the upcoming Danish University, reiterating the government’s commitment to providing high-quality education to deserving students across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the construction status of 15 new Danish Schools being built nationwide and directed authorities to expedite work on all under-construction projects. Emphasising transparency and quality, he instructed that all schools and the university undergo third-party validation and be constructed to the highest standards.

Shehbaz Sharif called Danish Schools and the Danish University flagship projects aimed at uplifting underprivileged communities through education. He ordered the installation of smart boards in classrooms and the establishment of digital libraries in every Danish School to modernise learning environments.

The Prime Minister further emphasised that the process of appointing teachers must be strictly merit-based and transparent, with priority given to hiring local educators from the areas where the schools are being constructed. He also called for proposals to establish a Danish Authority to oversee the implementation and management of these institutions.

A detailed briefing was given during the meeting, highlighting that 41% of the construction of the Danish School in Islamabad has been completed, with full completion expected by December 2025. Danish Schools in Sultanabad, Ghanche, and Astore (Gilgit-Baltistan) are slated to be completed by June 30, 2026, while schools in Bhimber and Bagh (Azad Jammu and Kashmir) are also on track for June 2026 completion. Feasibility studies and design work for schools in Sharda, Sibi, Musakhel, and Zhob have been completed, while land acquisition is currently underway for additional campuses in Hub, Karachi, and Chitral.

Regarding the Danish University, the federal cabinet has approved land allocation, and the meeting also greenlit the process of hiring an expert consultant for pre-qualifying the feasibility and design stages.

The session was attended by key federal ministers, including Ahsan Iqbal (Planning), Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui (Education), Ahad Khan Cheema (Economic Affairs), as well as chief secretaries from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and senior officials from the Islamabad Capital Territory.
