Terror plot foiled in Dera Ismail Khan: IED-linked attack near Khoi Bhara thwarted, road reconstruction underway

A major terror plot aimed at targeting security forces was successfully foiled in the Khoi Bhara area of Dera Ismail Khan, where miscreants had broken a public road and planted an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) near the Mangal Mor area.

The explosive was intended to target security institutions and police patrols, but was safely defused before it could cause damage, according to official sources.

The incident occurred during the night between May 11 and 12, when militants deliberately damaged the highway near the remote Khoi Bhara police station, disrupting public movement and endangering the lives of both civilians and security personnel.

Security forces, acting on timely intelligence, not only neutralised the planted IED but also used the same explosive device to demolish the hideouts of the attackers, striking a decisive blow against the terror network in the region.

Following the incident, District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada coordinated with the Pakistan Army to begin immediate reconstruction of the damaged road. The work is now being carried out under the joint supervision of the police and army, with assistance from local residents.

The destruction of the road had caused immense hardship to the people of the area, who heavily rely on it for daily travel and transport. Local elders and social activists condemned the attack as a direct act of hostility against the civilian population, applauding the swift and coordinated response of the Pakistan Army and police.

Residents expressed deep gratitude and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement, stating that any attempt to harm the country's protectors is, by extension, an attack on the community itself.
