Members of a police party opened fire on a moving car and shot dead a car-rider and injured two others claiming they ignored their signal to stop at a police picket in Kasur on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Kasur Police Spokesperson confirmed that police personnel who opened gunshots at the car passengers were now arrested.

Victim Asghar hailed from Mata village of Kasur. His family members claimed that Asghar — along his two friends —had gone to Kasur for breakfast from his native village Mata. 

The two injured friends Abdul Jabbar and Ramazan were also in serious condition.

The spokesperson said that the police have launched an investigation to check if the deceased had any criminal record. 

He claimed that the police had beefed up pickets and snap checking in the wake of increased robbery incidents in the city. “The car in which the three person were travelling was signalled to stop but they ignored it, prompting the police personnel to open fires at them,” he added. 

The 24News TV channel reported that Kasur Police’s professional negligence claimed a life and two other lives are still in danger.
