The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has scheduled a meeting of its executive board on December 8 to approve the disbursement of $1.2 billion to Pakistan under two ongoing programmes — the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Fund (RSF), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

As per the schedule announced on the IMF’s website, the executive board’s calendar shows two separate meetings on December 8 to approve agreements with Pakistan and Somalia.

Pakistan and the IMF had finalized a staff-level agreement on October 14 for the second review of the $7 billion EFF and the first review of the $1.4 billion RSF.

According to the agreement, Pakistan will receive $1 billion from the EFF and $200 million under the RSF. The funds are expected to be credited to Pakistan’s account on December 9, raising total disbursements under both arrangements to about $3.3 billion.

In its earlier statement on the staff-level agreement, the IMF had acknowledged Pakistan’s progress in stabilising the economy — including a current account surplus, improved external buffers, and falling inflation — but cautioned that flood-related damage and climate vulnerabilities continue to weigh on growth.

The Fund projected Pakistan’s GDP growth for FY26 at around 3.25 to 3.5 percent, stressing the need to sustain macroeconomic discipline and accelerate reforms to strengthen resilience against future shocks.
