A scrutiny committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) looking into foreign funding to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from illegal sources has summoned the party on October 15 to clarify its position.

The ECP has given the scrutiny committee time until the first week of November to complete the inquiry. In this regard, the ECP has issued notices to complainant Akbar S Babar and the PTI. A meeting of the scrutiny committee on the funding to the PTI from illegal sources would be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday. The scrutiny committee has sought details of PTI’s bank accounts from the State Bank of Pakistan.
