PM holds meetings with heads of state at sidelines of CICA Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Thursday held meetings with several heads of the State and the government on the sidelines of the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

PM’s emotional meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud

The emotional conversation between the two leaders became an example of Islamic brotherhood.

Palestinian President and PM Shehbaz Sharif hugged each other warmly, President Mahmood Abbas held both the hands of PM Shehbaz in his hands and said they never forget Pakistan. 

Shehbaz Sharif thanked him for helping during floods and said Palestine is part of his faith. He said the Palestinian President is among the leaders who supported Pakistan in today's conference.

He said Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for Palestine’s rights till Palestinians succeed.

In response of it, President Mahmood said Pakistan is their home and Pakistanis are brothers and sisters.

PM Shehbaz, President of Kazakhstan discuss bilateral ties

PM Shehbaz held a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the sidelines of the 6th CICA Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Matters pertaining to promotion of bilateral cooperation and mutual interest were discussed in the meeting.

PM Shehbaz attends dinner hosted by Kazakh President

PM Shehbaz also attended the dinner hosted by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym Jomart Tokayev in honour of the heads of countries participating in Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia. 

The President of Uzbekistan Shavket Mirziyoyev also participated in the dinner along with the Prime Minister and the President of Kazakhstan.

Before the dinner, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in a cultural program on behalf of Kazakhstan in which the delegations participating in CICA 2022 were warmly welcomed.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recently had a detailed meeting with the two leaders on the occasion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand. 

Pakistan, Tajikistan agree to strengthen economic ties

Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to strengthen economic cooperation in trade, energy and connectivity.

The understanding was reached during meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Astana on Thursday, on the sidelines of 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).             

The two leaders also agreed on early completion of CASA-1000 project, which would be a harbinger of future energy corridors with Central Asia. 

Both leaders agreed on further increasing high-level contacts, inter-parliamentary ties and technical level meetings to promote substantive cooperation.  

Discussing the regional and global issues of mutual interest, they agreed to work together to strengthen peace, stability and security in the region.  

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif updated the Tajik President on the rehabilitation work being undertaken by Pakistan in the flood affected areas of the country.

He called for joint efforts to cope with the increasing danger of climate change induced natural disasters.

The Tajik President assured Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Tajikistan’s continuous support in this regard, including dispatch of an additional convoy of trucks carrying essential flood relief items.               

Recalling his meeting with the Tajik President on the sidelines of SCO Summit at Samarkand, last month, Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the steadily increasing bilateral engagement in diverse areas.  

The Prime Minister stressed on enhancing connectivity via road transport and air links and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to provide access to Tajikistan to Gwadar and Karachi ports.  

PM Shehbaz’s meaningful interactive with President of Belarus

PM Shehbaz Sharif had meaningful interactive bilateral engagement with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko which reflected mutual desire to promote peace, cooperation, security, and stability in Asia.

PM meets Vietnamese Vice President

PM Shehbaz also met Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Anh Xuan at Independence Palace Astana, Kazakhstan at the venue of the 6th CICA Summit and exchanged matters of bilateral interest.

Pakistan, Azerbaijan agree on fast-track energy collaboration

Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to hold fast-track discussions on energy collaboration between the two countries through robust engagement.

The bilateral relations were discussed in a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in which the two sides renewed their commitment to intensify and deepen bilateral engagement in diverse areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Sixth Summit of the Conference for Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) being held here.

Both leaders reviewed the progress of various ongoing initiatives for promoting connectivity, trade and investment.

PM’s constructive meeting with Uzbek President

In another sideline meeting, PM Shehbaz on Thursday made a constructive conversation with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and discussed bilateral issues with him.
