Azam Tarar praises SC’s verdict on Practice & Procedure Act

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict in the Practice and Procedure Act case, former federal minister for law and PML-N leader Azam Nazir Tarar on Thursday said he was pleased that the law passed by parliament stood vindicated, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

He was talking to newsmen at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

“The apex court has retained this law,” he said, adding, “The court has acknowledged that legislation is parliament’s prerogative. Even on the point of appeal, the SC’s verdict was different from what was being expected.”   

Tarar went on to say that the verdict would not have any bearing on the eligibility of former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif since he had now become eligible for holding a public office after amendment to the Election Act. “Apart from that, all NAB cases in which Nawaz has been nominated will be assessed on his return to Pakistan on merit,” the former minister added.
