PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said that this oppressive regime has been toying with the health of political opponents by keeping them in inhuman conditions. 

“My brother Hamza Shehbaz Sharif is the latest victim of this brutality who has been tested positive for COVID-19 but not being given the required medical attention,” she said.

Maryam Nawaz said Hamza Shehbaz has unjustly and illegally been incarcerated for more than a year now. “The tyrants masking as rulers must know that even the naked, brutal force they rely upon will be of no help when the payback time strikes & the day is not far, Insha’Allah,” she further said in a tweet posted on her official Twitter handle.

The PML-N Vice-President said it is yet to be ascertained what food was given to Nawaz Sharif during NAB’s arrest after he was stopped from eating home’s food. “Suddenly, his illness worsened, his platelets dropped to dangerous levels and he had a heart attack. The question is, how the lone prisoner in the call room got infected with the coronavirus,” she questioned.

Attaullah Tarrar writes letter to jail authorities 

Deputy Secretary General of PML-N Attaullah Tarrar said he has written a letter to Home Department officials for shifting Hamza Shehbaz to Ittefaq Hospital immediately where his physician Dr Rizwan can have access to him and administer medical treatment. 

He said Hamza Shehbaz is unwell for a week now and alleged that NAB prisoners are languishing in prisons without any investigation or evidence.

Attaullah Tarrar wrote a letter to the Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (Home) with the subject ‘Shifting of Hamza Shehbaz Shard to Ittefaq Hospital’. 

The letter reads, “Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab who is currently an under trial prisoner of NAB in Kot Lakhpat Prison (Central Jail Lahore) has tested positive for COVID-19 (report attached). He had been unwell and had symptoms since the past week after which his COVID test was conducted yesterday, on Saturday 12th of September 2020.”

He maintained in letter, “His physician Dr. Rizwan Akhtar is based at Ittefaq Hospital and all record of his medical history is with Dr Rizwan. This, being a medical emergency, it is requested that Mr. Hamza Shehbaz Sharif will be shifted to Ittefaq Hospital Lahore immediately where his physician can have proper access to him and necessary medical treatment can be administered accordingly.”

As per the report, attached with the letter and shared the PML-N Deputy Secretary General stated Department of Molecular Virology of Chugtai Lab COVID-19 conducted swab specimen and as a result of Virus Qualitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) the virus is detected.
