Punjab CM Maryam orders to purchase wheat at Rs3,500 per 40 kg
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered the concerned department to start purchasing wheat from farmers at Rs3,500 per 40 kg immediately, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
CM Maryam chaired a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday which decided in principle to purchase wheat from Kisan Card holders on preferential basis.
Payment to farmers within 72 hours of wheat purchase at Rs3,500 was declared mandatory.
Strategic Management Committees have been established at provincial and divisional levels through which wheat procurement issues will be monitored.
The meeting was told that 88 percent farmers expressed confidence in CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s historic projects.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced to start “Work with Punjab Government” programme in Punjab and for the purpose agriculture graduates and others will be provided internship opportunities.
Meeting was told that record of issuance of loans worth Rs100 billion from Kisan Card with 99 percent recovery was made.
The meeting was further told that 900,000 farmers were registered through Kisan Card.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to continue the registration.
Tere is a target of 30,000 tractors under Green Tractor Scheme and 20,000 tractors were received by farmers.
The meeting was briefed that due to Green Tractor Scheme and agricultural mechanization, local industry started to flourish.
Local manufacturers are also actively working in Duska for the local production of harvesters.
Maryam Nawaz said farmers will not be affected.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said agricultural development is being built on sustainable foundations.
With the grace and mercy of Allah Almighty, I have the honor of bringing a real agricultural revolution in two years, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
