At least eight people, including two babies, died when a house in a poor neighborhood of Venezuela's capital collapsed after a gas explosion, officials said Tuesday.

Twenty-two people were rescued from the rubble and taken to different hospitals, the governor of Miranda State, Hector Rodriguez, said on X.

"Unfortunately, there were eight deaths, including two babies," he added.

Venezuelan media has put the toll at 11.
