TCP issues another tender for import of 2.5 million tonnes of sugar

Trading Corporation of Pakistan Limited (TCP) has issued another tender for the import of 2.5 million tonnes of sugar as bidders are directed to submit their applications by August 21, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

According to the tender documents, bids less than 2.5 million tonnes of sugar will not be accepted. 

Earlier, TCP had opened a tender for one lakh metric tonnes of sugar on August 11. TCP received a total of 5 bids, one bidder withdrew. TCP received bids ranging from $539 to $586 per metric ton. 

The federal cabinet last month approved the import of 500,000 metric tons of sugar. The decision to import sugar through TCP was made at the government level. The federal government had exempted all taxes on sugar imports.
