Nawaz Sharif thrust on nation through ‘illicit votes: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has alleged that the former Nawaz Sharif was imposed on the nation through what he described as “70,000 illicit votes,” and questioned who would hold accountable those responsible for bringing him into power, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

 Addressing a public gathering, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the movement for systemic change would not only hold rulers accountable but would also “fix” the system that, in his view, enables corruption and misgovernance.

He claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) failed to secure even 17 seats in the last general elections, questioning its popular mandate.

He said that Pakistan has experimented with various systems over the years, whether martial law or democracy, but ordinary citizens have yet to witness any real or meaningful change.

Criticising recent constitutional developments, he alleged that the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments further weakened an already fragile judicial system, rather than strengthening it.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief asserted that his party alone has the capacity to bring about genuine systemic reform and described it as the country’s only viable option.

He said the slogan “Badlo Nizam” (Change the System) was not merely a chant but a suppressed public aspiration that would now be articulated through a structured and organized movement.

Outlining future plans, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced that sit-in protests would be staged at divisional headquarters across the country on December 21 against the Local Government Act.

He also declared that Jamaat-e-Islami would launch a vigorous movement against what he termed the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) mafia.
