Ogra proposes Rs16 increase in petrol price, Rs14.75 in diesel

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has proposed up to Rs16 per litre increase in the prices of petroleum products.
According to sources, the OGRA has forwarded a summary for increase in the prices of petroleum products to the Petroleum Division, recommending an increase of Rs16 per litre in the price petrol and Rs14.75 per litre in the price of diesel.
Sources say the OGRA summary is based on Rs30 per litre levy. Currently, Rs21 levy is being charged on every litre of petrol and Rs22.11 per litre on every litre of diesel. Sources say fuel prices have increased in the international market therefore an increase in the prices of petroleum products is expected in Pakistan from February 16. It is expected that petrol price will go up by Rs5.50 per litre and diesel price by Rs5.75 per litre after approval by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
