The Lahore High Court’s Multan Bench on Monday acquitted Wasim in the murder case of none other than his own sister Qandeel Baloch, a supermodel, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Sohail Nasir of the Bench pronounced the decision after Wasim’s and Qandeel’s mother pardoned his son, and witnesses in the case retracted from their statements.
A model court in Multan had, on September 27, 2019, handed down life imprisonment to the main accused
In his petition, filed through his counsel, Wasim had said that a sessions court had ignored the agreement reached between him and his mother. “And that both his and his sister Qandeel’s father had already passed away,” he said, and added that even witnesses in the case had changed their statements.
Five accused, including Qandeel’s two brothers and Mufti Abdul Qavi Naqvi, have already been acquitted in the case of Qandeel, who was murdered for ‘honour’.
