PBC suspends Lahore Bar Council’s results

The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) Saturday suspended the results issued by the Lahore Bar Election Board, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Earlier, the Lahore Bar Election Board had issued the results of the Lahore Bar Council annual election 2023-24 despite the cancelation letter of the PCB.
According to a notification issued by Punjab Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday, the PBC executive committee chairman in its letter to Lahore Bar Election Board directed to suspend the election after receiving complaints that several bonafide voters were not allowed to cast votes.
The PBC executive committee nominated Babar Waheed as acting president of the Lahore Bar Council and also convened all the candidates for the Lahore Bar Council office bearers on Jan 16 for a meeting.
But, Lahore Bar Election Board refused to own the letter presented by Babar Waheed and announced the election results.
“The LBC Election Board has shown misconduct, hence suspending the results of Lahore Bar Council.” Despite postponing the elections, the Election Board announced the results of the Lahore Bar, the Chairman observed.
The re-election will be held on January 23.
