The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to test Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif through a vote of confidence in the National Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A strategy to this effect has been finalized during a meeting of PTI senior leadership held here at Zaman Park on Saturday.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan chaired the meeting and approved in principle the strategy of giving a tough time to the federal government.
He also gave his consent for bringing a vote of confidence against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a tit-for-tat move similar to the one he himself had faced as the premier in April 2022.
Former prime minister Imran Khan directed the party leaders to take necessary steps in this regard.
The meeting has been told that Punjab Chief Minister Ch Parvez Elahi is expected to meet Imran Khan tomorrow here at Zaman Park to discuss the interim setup after the dissolution of the Punjab assembly. Both leaders will also finalize the names for the interim setup. After consultation with party leadership, Imran Khan will name Parvez Elahi for the setup.
In the meeting, Imran Khan agreed to start the ticket distribution process for the general elections. It has been decided in the meeting to seek the names of strong candidates from the party organizations at the divisional level. Recommendations of the party organizations will be presented to the parliamentary board. The board will finalize the candidates soon. The successful candidates will soon be given green signal and allowed to enter the election field.
