Expressing his deep concern regarding tension over local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad scheduled to be held tomorrow, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has expressed his fear that a conflict might occur during the elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
He said that disagreement among political parties over the LG polls in these two divisions has assumed a dangerous proportion. Two political parties want the elections tomorrow while two are opposing it, he observed.
Given the circumstances, a clash might occur and the disruptive elements might take advantage of it and create law and order situation, he cautioned.
Sanaullah also warned that a small incident might trigger a big tragedy.
It is the need of the hour that the political parties and other election holding authorities showed an understanding, defused the atmosphere of tension and reached a consensus, he advised.
He suggested that the Election Commission and courts take notice of the gravity of situation and find a solution in the light of law and order.
