11 illegal Afghan nationals arrested by police in Ubauro

Police arrested 11 illegal Afghan nationals during a crackdown in Sindh city of Ubauro near the border with Punjab on Tuesday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to details, a police team from Ubauro Police Station arrested 11 people during checking of suspicious individuals in a Sindh-Punjab border area for not possessing national identity cards.

Initial investigations revealed that the arrested Afghan individuals did not have passports or any other legal documents.

A police spokesperson informed that cases have been registered against the arrested Afghan nationals, and all of them have been shifted to jail after completion of legal formalities.

It is necessary to mention here that till January 9, 2026, more than 19,500 illegal Afghan nationals have been arrested in Islamabad during the ongoing crackdown.

The crackdown against Afghan nationals continued in Islamabad on the instructions of the Ministry of Interior. 

According to the report, out of the total, 9,803 Afghan nationals have been sent back to Afghanistan during the campaign.

About 5,045 men are among those deported, while 2,191 women were repatriated under the campaign. As many as 9545 persons were released after checking.

Islamabad Police also sent 2,567 children back to their homeland. The Interior Ministry directed the Islamabad administration to intensify further operations. The rural zone arrested the most Afghan citizens.
