PAC chairman refuses to hear 'Audit Para' of spy agency in absence of DG
Noor Alam Khan, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly (NA) refused to hear the 'Audit Para' of the national spy agency--Intelligence Bureau (IB) due to the absence of its chief on Thursday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Deputy Director General of the IB appeared before the PAC meeting held under the chair of the committee chairman in the NA Secretariat in Islamabad.
'Audit Para' related to the IB was on the agenda of the PAC but the bureau's Director General (DG) did not join the meeting on which Chairman Noor Alam Khan set aside the hearing.
Anyhow, the issue of tapping the phone calls of the people [especially the phone calls of politicians and others] was also discussed in the PAC meeting.
In the conversation with the Deputy Director General of the IB, PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan asked him, "What do you do besides tapping the phone?"
In reply to it, the IB Deputy Director General told the PAC chairman briefly, "There are many other tasks".
At this, PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan said, "I respect you a lot because you tap the phone."
The PAC chairman also told him that his DG is not present in the meeting so the audit para related to IB will not be heard.
