Petition over no action on corruption reference against Justice Mazahir Naqvi lands in SC

A petition was filed Thursday in the Supreme Court (SC) against no action on a corruption reference against Justice Mahazir Ali Akbar Naqvi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) should immediately start the hearing against Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi in an open court, and the proceedings of the reference should be telecasted live,” the petition demanded.

The petition was filed by Mian Dawood Advocate over putting the corruption reference against Justice Naqvi on hold. Copies of the petition were sent to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and five other members of the SJC.

“The CJP has not been allowing the reference to be fixed for hearing for four months. The CJP has criminally been protecting the most corrupt judge in judicial history,” the text of the petition read.

“This action of the CJP falls in the category of misconduct and the breach of his oath. The CJP criminally wants to give Justice Naqvi a chance of retirement by putting the corruption reference against him on hold,” it added.

“The news of Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi’s resignation from the post is circulating. The criminal collusion of the CJP with Justice Naqvi is a sad and disgusting act. Efforts to protect the most corrupt judge show a criminal mentality and thinking,” it stated.
