PFA announces five-day protest against unregulated exhibitions in city

The Pakistan Furniture Association (PFA) has announced a five-day protest campaign starting tomorrow (Tuesday) to express its concerns over unauthorized furniture exhibitions by unregistered stakeholders across the city.

As per the protest schedule, daily demonstrations will be held in different major furniture markets of Lahore.

The campaign will kick off on Tuesday at the Band Road Furniture Market, followed by a protest on Wednesday at the Multan Road Furniture Market.

The protest will then move to the Ichhra Furniture Market on Thursday and the PIA Road Furniture Market on Friday.

The association aimed to mobilize its members citywide to highlight what they term as unfair business practices affecting the registered furniture community.

The key demand of the association is to halt all furniture exhibitions being held in wedding halls and temporary venues (pandals) by unregistered individuals and groups.

According to association representatives, such unauthorized displays are not only harming the formal sector but also escaping necessary legal and tax frameworks.

“We demand that all unregistered stakeholders be barred from organizing illegal exhibitions,” the association said in an official statement.

 “These unchecked activities are disrupting the market and undermining the investment of lawful business owners.”

The association has called upon authorities to allow only two to three furniture exhibitions annually, to be held exclusively at the Expo Centre – a recognized and professional venue for such events.
