Rihanna shows up at Smurfs premiere red carpet with sons

Music icon Rihanna made a rare red carpet appearance with her two sons, RZA and Riot, at the premiere of the upcoming animated film Smurfs in Los Angeles.

The singer and entrepreneur, who is expecting her third child with partner A$AP Rocky, appeared composed and graceful at the star-studded event. Rihanna lends her voice to the beloved character Smurfette in the movie, which is scheduled for theatrical release on July 18.

This public outing comes just days after Rihanna returned from Barbados, where she attended the funeral of her father, Ronald Fenty, who passed away in May following an illness. Despite their complicated relationship in the past, sources say the two had reconciled before his passing, and Rihanna is said to be deeply saddened by the loss.

Speaking at the event, Rihanna shared her excitement about watching the film with her children, saying, “I’m excited for tonight. We get to watch the movie together for the first time.”

When asked about the upcoming addition to their family, she said her sons are 'delighted' and hinted that their third child’s name might also begin with the letter "R", following the family’s sweet tradition.

The event marked a positive and heartwarming moment for the star after a challenging few months.

A report cited an insider as saying: "Being pregnant and dealing with ASAP's legal woes have been an emotional roller coaster for her the last few months, and to add to it all, her dad was getting sick, and it started to become too much.

As much as you realise that something like this is occurring, it is still completely heartbreaking, and that is where she is right now." 

The source added that the singer had forgiven her father and, in death, they got back to a loving father-daughter relationship.

"But, she is in pain, especially being a mother herself, and there being a chance that her kids would have lost their dad to jail a few months back, she feels how important family is," the source explained. 

On Saturday, Rihanna was seen arriving back in Los Angeles and holding a large bouquet at the airport.
