Qatari Army personnel challenges PNIL listing in Sindh High Court
A Qatari Army personnel, Waheed, filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking removal of his name from the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
During the hearing of the case, the lawyer for the petitioner, Waheed, argued that his client is a Pakistani citizen and regularly appears in court in a case filed against him.
The lawyer further argued that his client’s name was included in PINL without any valid reason.
The passport officials told the court that the authority to remove anyone’s name from PINL rests with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The Court observed that “it is the responsibility of the relevant authority to explain the reasons for inclusion of anyone’s name in the Provisional National Identification List”.
The Sindh High Court also directed the relevant authority to submit its reply within two days. The Court further observed that the petitioner has the right to challenge the decision of the relevant authority in the forum.
