The Sindh government has decided to increase provincial government employees’ salaries up to 15 percent, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
Despite the fiscal challenges, the Sindh government will allocate budget for an increase in the salaries of the government employees.
It is pertinent to note that federal cabinet on Friday approving the budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 and decided not to increase the salaries and pensions for the federal government employees. The move means that salaries and pensions for the federal government’s employees will remain at the same level for the upcoming fiscal year. Subsequently, the same decision was announced in the federal budget presented in the National Assembly on Friday last.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has reportedly rejected the provincial finance department’s proposal for a 10 percent cut in salaries of the government employees. The Punjab government is presenting its FY2021 budget on Monday (tomorrow) and had decided not to increase the government employees’ salaries.
