Sindh to present Rs13000b budget today with special focus on Karachi
- The provincial government will present more than Rs13,000 billion volume annual financial plan 2021/22 today (Tuesday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The budget document proposes to set aside Rs222 billion for Provincial Development Programme. It will recommend a 20% increase in the salaries of government employees and pensions of the retired workers. It proposes Rs25,000 minimum salary of a laborer.
The budget document contains a special development package for Karachi. Rs22 billion have been earmarked for more than 10 mega schemes to be initiated in the provincial capital in the coming fiscal year.
It has been proposed to allocate 55% of the development budget for education, agriculture and security.
An increase in the recruitment of the police force and in their allowances is also expected.
In the upcoming budget, a handsome amount for social welfare programmes will be set aside. In 10 Sindh tehsils, hospitals for the prevention of viral diseases would be set up. A new university in Mirpur Khas will also be established.
