Disheveled-looking Parvez Elahi shows longing for holding ‘press conference’

A visibly bettered former Punjab Chief Minister and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chaudhary Parvez Elahi seems also longing for the press conference trend to shorten his suffering.

During his appearance at the Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday, Elahi was in a disheveled condition and looked visibly shaken while describing his ordeal in the jail.

Upon a question regarding quitting PTI, Elahi quipped that he was not allowed to even meet anyone, how could he hold a press conference (to quit PTI)?

“I am ill and for the past ten days I have been imprisoned in a small room where I could not even stretch my legs fully.”

PTI President said that he had been wearing the same clothes for the last 10 days, and was not receiving any medical treatment.

"Cardiology tests are only halfway completed," he alleged.

Chaudhry further revealed his ordeal that the jail room does not have electricity. “The fan in the room malfunctions,” he added “and I am not being permitted to meet my family.”

He reiterated that he was kept in a cell where even his legs could not be stretched.

Parvez Elahi reassured the public that he had never mistreated anyone during his tenure as chief minister of Punjab, nor did he consider anyone his enemy.

"It is because of my affiliation with the PTI that I am going through these circumstances and facing these cases," he said.

Elahi was taken into custody earlier this month by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) with the assistance of the Punjab Police.

 A judicial magistrate in Lahore then ordered the former chief minister to be held in prison for 14 days on judicial remand on June 4.

 Days later, once his health in prison deteriorated, he was transported to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

 Elahi had undergone medical testing at the PIC after complaining of chest trouble. Later, he was returned to prison.
