NCHR rejects Imran Khan’s charges of rape, torture of PTI workers in prison

The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) has refuted the claims made by former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan that PTI workers, especially females, are being treated badly in prisons, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to sources, not a single allegation made by Imran has been proven in the report submitted by the commission’s Chairperson Rabia Javeri to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

A letter also accompanies the report in which Rabia says that the NCHR started investigations after reports of torture on PTI workers in prisons and jails came to light. “The commission sent its teams to prisons in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh, to probe veracity of these allegations, but not a single of them was found to be true,” the letter reads.

It was further written in the letter that the teams visited Central Jail, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Nowshera and women’s jail in Karachi, while the visit to Lahore’s Central Jail was in progress.  

The PTI chairman had levelled allegations of rape of female party workers and other human right violations.
