Iran rejects Trump's claim of deal signing today

Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that a deal would be signed today, saying Iranian negotiators had already made clear that no agreement would be concluded on Sunday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Trump wanted the signing ceremony to take place on 14 June because it coincides with his birthday.

The IRGC added that US President Trump was trying to give the event symbolic importance and turn it into a form of personal publicity.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei also said that no memorandum of understanding would be signed today.

Esmaeil Baghaei also said the right time had not yet arrived and that people should wait for the proper moment.

Baghaei added, however, that the possibility of signing in the coming days could not be ruled out.
