PPP urges AJK Election Commission to withdraw election’s schedule on reserved seats
Ch Yasin says PPP was not in favor of agitation, clash between security forces and the people of the valley
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has urged Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to withdraw the schedule of election on reserved seat (Mohagirin) as holding of transparent and fair election seemed difficult in current situation, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
PPP Azad Kashmir Chapter president Ch Yasin demanded this while addressing a press briefing after PPP’s Core Committee meeting on Sunday. Ch Yasin made it clear that PPP was not in favor of any agitation and clash between security forces and the people of the valley.
He said that 12 seats were not more important than human lives. PPP Azad Kashmir Chapter president said that thirty-seven out of thirty-eight demands of the banned Awami Action Committee have been accepted. He said that there were constitutional and legal ways to resolve the issue of refugee seats.
“Issuing the election schedule three days before the protest call was not a proper decision”, said Ch Muhammad Yasin. He said the PPP had sought a week's time for the negotiation process.
Chaudhry Yasin demanded that AJK Election Commission should withdraw the schedule so that negotiation between the government and the protestors can restart.
He said that Country’s enemy may try to take advantage of the current situation. Ch Muhammad Yasin said that India may take advantage of the situation and harm the Kashmir cause. Ch Yasin said that Azad Kashmir is facing shortage of food and water. He made it clear that the solution to all problems lies in negotiations and political harmony. PPP leader sardar Yaqoob Khan also said that elections were not more important than human lives. He said that some quick decision led to such situation in the valley.
He urged AJK Election Commission office to withdraw the decision of holding election on migrants seats so that process of talks and reconciliation is started. Sardar Yaqoob said right now it was vital to protect the state as AJK could not afford more tension and agitation. He urged all stakeholders to find solution which is acceptable to all stakeholders.
