Saudi Arabia deports nearly 8,000 illegal residents in one week

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has deported nearly 8,000 illegal residents as part of a nationwide campaign against violations of residency, border security, and labour laws, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

According to Saudi media reports, security agencies arrested a total of 10,725 individuals during joint inspection operations carried out across the Kingdom between June 4 and June 10.

The raids were conducted by security forces in coordination with relevant government departments.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, those detained included 5,899 people accused of violating residency regulations, 3,084 individuals for breaching border security laws, and 1,742 people for violating labour laws.

Saudi media reported that 7,989 illegal residents were deported during the week-long campaign, while 14,268 individuals were referred to their respective diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents required for repatriation.

Authorities also revealed that 1,418 people were arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally.

Of those detained, 43 percent were Yemeni nationals, 55 percent Ethiopian nationals, and 2 percent belonged to other nationalities.

In addition, security forces arrested 34 individuals who were allegedly attempting to leave Saudi Arabia illegally.
