Seven people were killed and 33 others injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after strong winds and heavy rain triggered roof and wall collapses across several districts, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the casualties occurred during the past 24 hours as severe weather, including windstorms, lightning and torrential rain, swept through different parts of the province.
The PDMA confirmed that the fatalities and injuries were reported mainly from Bannu, Shangla and Mansehra, where houses and boundary walls collapsed, causing significant loss of life and property.
The authority has issued a detailed damage report and urged residents to take precautionary measures amid continuing unstable weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast partly cloudy weather for Islamabad on Saturday, with the temperature expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius. Winds are likely to blow at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour throughout the day.
The Met Office also predicted rain and thunderstorms in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan later in the day. Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of rain at isolated places.
In Karachi, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy with strong winds prevailing intermittently. The temperature may rise to 36 degrees Celsius, while humidity levels stand at 65 per cent. According to the Met Office, winds are currently blowing from the west at a speed of 23 kilometres per hour.
