Sindh CM hails rapid infrastructure development after inaugurating Azeempura Bridge in Karachi

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday highlighted the provincial government's infrastructure achievements while addressing the media after inaugurating the newly constructed Azeempura Bridge in Karachi.

Thanking attendees for their presence, the chief minister said the day was significant for two major reasons. He noted that all 44 gates of the historic Sukkur Barrage had been newly installed, describing it as a landmark development.

“Sukkur Barrage was built in 1932, and after 94 years, major work has been carried out on its gates,” he said, adding that the project marked an important milestone in Sindh’s irrigation infrastructure.

Referring to development projects in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah said the Bhutto Highway had also been constructed in the Azeempura area, where severe traffic congestion previously existed.

He praised the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for completing the Azeempura Bridge in just 94 days. “I had given the mayor a target of 100 days. I congratulate the mayor and deputy mayor of Karachi for completing the project ahead of schedule,” he said.

The chief minister also highlighted several recently completed infrastructure projects, including the Charbade project, the Korangi Causeway, a bridge named after Taj Haider, and the inauguration of the Ibrahim Hyderi Tower, stating that these projects had been completed within a few months.

Murad Ali Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was committed to improving infrastructure across Sindh and particularly in Karachi. He criticized previous administrations, saying the city had been handed over to people who were more interested in political disputes than development.

“The PPP is working to improve infrastructure and provide better facilities to the people,” he said.

The chief minister added that President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regularly review the progress of development schemes and closely monitor their implementation.

“President Zardari remains fully informed about these projects and continues to stand with the people of Karachi,” Murad Ali Shah said, adding that the party's leadership would continue supporting initiatives aimed at transforming the city's infrastructure and easing public hardships.
