Defending champions Karachi Whites beat Islamabad by 30 runs under D/L method

Defending champions Karachi Whites Friday defeated Islamabad by 30 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in the rain-affected opening match of the National T20 Cup.

In this Group B match played at the Iqbal Stadium, Karachi Whites won the toss and batted first and scored 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

In Karachi Whites’ innings, Saud Shakeel scored 76 runs with the help of 9 fours and a six. Khurram Manzoor scored 29 runs with the help of four fours and a six.

Naseerullah and Musa Khan took two wickets each.

Islamabad scored 73 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 13.1 overs when the game had to be stopped due to rain.

Ali Imran was the top scorer with 26 runs. Muhammad Umar took two wickets.

As many as 18 teams from 16 regions are participating in the National T20 Cup, which has been divided into four groups.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, which will be played on March 23 and 24. The semi-finals will be held on March 26 while the final will be played on March 27.

Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad will host the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final.
