Man opens fire over rejected proposal in Ghotki, killing one before taking own life

A tragic incident unfolded in Khanpur Mehr tehsil, where a 26-year-old man from Jacobabad opened fire at a girl's house after she rejected his marriage proposal, leaving her seriously injured and killing her uncle. The assailant then took his own life.

According to SSP Ghotki Samiullah Soomro, the attacker, identified as Sonu Ram, had sought the hand of 19-year-old Vandana in marriage.

When his proposal was turned down, he forcibly entered her home and opened fire. Vandana’s uncle, Chandu Ram, was shot and killed on the spot while attempting to protect his niece.

Vandana sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to Khanpur Hospital before being shifted to Sukkur for further medical treatment.

Following the attack, Sonu Ram committed suicide by shooting himself. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Tehsil Hospital Khanpur for legal formalities.

Police have launched an investigation into the case.
