Salman Ali Agha reprimanded for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during Bangladesh ODI

Pakistan batter Salman Ali Agha has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday. 

According to the ICC, Agha was found guilty of violating Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match.

In addition to the official reprimand, one demerit point has been added to Agha’s disciplinary record.

It is his first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident took place in the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings when Agha was run out dramatically.

Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz delivered a flatter ball that Mohammad Rizwan nudged back down the pitch.

As the ball rolled toward Agha at the non-striker’s end, Miraz intervened and quickly capitalised on the situation.

As Agha attempted to avoid the ball and then move to return it, Miraz reacted swiftly, gathered the ball and broke the stumps, completing the run-out.

The dismissal visibly frustrated the Pakistan batter, who, while walking back to the pavilion, threw his batting gloves and helmet to the ground in an inappropriate manner, prompting disciplinary action from the match officials.

Agha admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Neeyamur Rashid Rahul of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Adrian Holdstock and Tanvir Ahmed, along with third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul.
