Contempt of court was committed on PM Imran’s orders: PML-N
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Friday visited the house of MNA Qaisar Sheikh and condoled the death of his son former TEVTA chairman Arfan Qaisar Sheikh and offered Fateha Khawani.
Spokesperson for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Friday that the Lahore Airport staff had stopped party President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif from going abroad on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s orders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, she said hence the authorities had committed contempt of court on PM Imran’s orders since the Lahore High Court (LHC) had allowed PML-N president to travel to UK for the purpose of his medical treatment.
She said it was written in the LHC’s detailed judgement that since Shehbaz had committed no corruption, he should be allowed to fly to the UK. “And when the government learnt about the court verdict, it got panicky and barred PML-N president at the airport on the pretext that his status as per the LHC order had not been updated as yet,” PML-N spokesperson said, and added nobody in the government ever bothered to worry about 17 per cent hike in the prices of items of essential use during the holy month of Ramadan and other issues, and a summary was circulated on the Eid day so that Shehbaz Sharif’s name could be put on the Exit Control List (ECL). “NAB, FIA, Interior Ministry, Immigration and Cabinet Division’s offices, which, like other offices, were supposed to remain shut due to the coronavirus cases, were specially opened on Eid day on the prime minister’s instructions in order to move the summary,” Marriyum claimed.
“Never ever in the country’s history such a spectacle has been witnessed that any government office was opened on Eid day,” she commented.
Spokesperson for the PML-N further said that PM Imran had Shehbaz Sharif phobia. “The LHC should summon the prime minister, interior minister, Shahzad Akbar for violating its orders by stopping party president at the airport. “The government made a mockery of the court verdict,” she alleged.
She accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government of eating up loan worth Rs14, 000 billion.
Marriyum said she and the entire nation would be glad had PM Imran announced his resignation on the Eid day. “But sadly, his politics starts from Nawaz Sharif and culminates in Shehbaz Sharif,” she said satirically.
She opined that if the Supreme Court (SC) did not take notice of the LHC order’s violation, this would be a bad omen for the country. “Now it is up to the SC and LHC to take notice of the violation. Otherwise, a bad precedent would be set for future court decisions,” she expressed the fear.
PML-N spokesperson alleged that Shehbaz Sharif was not even given his medical reports.
She dispelled the impression that the party had struck any deal. “I have been hearing such talk since my childhood, but right now there is no truth in such statements,” she clarified.
She said unlike the prime minister, politicians usually had consultations with each other.
