Committee reviews tax policy proposals for upcoming budget
A committee meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reviewed tax policy proposals for the upcoming federal budget, according to a statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.
The statement said the committee examined in detail the proposals prepared by the Tax Policy Office and discussed various measures aimed at improving the country’s tax system and increasing revenue collection.
During the meeting, participants also considered proposals for bringing the informal economy into the tax net as part of broader efforts to expand the revenue base.
According to the announcement, the committee reviewed different policy options to remove shortcomings in the existing tax structure and enhance fiscal performance.
The committee directed officials to formulate policy measures that would not only help increase revenue but also encourage investment and support economic growth.
