PMDC issues new eligibility criteria for students seeking medical, dental admissions abroad

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued fresh instructions and eligibility criteria for Pakistani students seeking admission to medical and dental institutions abroad.

According to a public notice issued by the council, students intending to pursue medical or dental education in foreign institutions will now be required to secure at least 50 per cent marks in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) or pass an equivalent foreign admission examination.

The PMDC further stated that candidates must also have passed F.Sc. Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 60 per cent marks.

The council directed all students seeking admission to foreign medical and dental colleges to strictly comply with the prescribed criteria to avoid complications regarding recognition and future registration in Pakistan.

According to the notice, students are also required to complete online registration with the PMDC in order to become eligible for provisional registration as well as the National Registration Examination (NRE) after completion of their studies abroad.

The council advised students and parents to carefully review the updated requirements before applying to overseas institutions.

The PMDC further urged students to visit its official website for detailed guidelines, eligibility conditions and additional information regarding admissions, registration procedures and examination requirements.
