The US dollar after an increase of five paisas reached Rs171.18 — a new all-time high — against the Pakistani rupee on Thursday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Forex dealers said that at the opening time of the inter-bank trading, the US dollar gained five paisas against the Pakistani currency.

Economist Muhammad Suhail said that investors were also looking at the appointments on important posts. 

He said that $1 billion maturity bonds payment were also due today (Thursday) and dollar surge also increasing the prices of imported products. 

He said that dollar gained Rs18.90 in the last five months against the Pakistani rupee.
