SC halts bar councils from issuing licenses to new lawyers without training

The Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday stopped bar councils from issuing licenses to new lawyers without training, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

A two-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard the case related to lawyers' licenses and fake degree issues.  

The court summoned the representatives of the bar councils across the country for the next hearing. The honorable court also sought a report from FIA ​​and the Directorate of Legal, Education department.

Justices Ijazul Hassan remarked that fake degrees and admissions fraud is going on in Pakistan. The law colleges providing substandard law education should be closed. New lawyers should be trained so that they can properly represent the Bar Councils, Justice Ijazul Ahsan.

Petitioner Aneeq Khatana pleaded in his application that new lawyers should not get licenses without completing their basic training. The hearing of the case was adjourned for a month.
