Syed Babar Ali brings honour to Pakistan
Pakistani educationist and philanthropist inducted into American Academy of Arts and Sciences

A renowned Pakistani business and industry tycoon, educationist and philanthropist Syed Babar Ali has been inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Wednesday.
Dr Syed Babar Ali is the second Pakistani who received this honour in the United States after Dr Abdus Salam, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist of Pakistan.
A prestigious ceremony was held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge in recognition of Dr Syed Babar Ali’s services for the promotion of education, public welfare and social equality.
The owner of dozens of well-known business and industrial companies and Pro Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), for his services for the promotion of education, public welfare and social equality.
Dr Syed Babar Ali has been included in the Business, Corporate and Philanthropic Leadership category of the Academy’s Class of 2020.
Old Ravian Dr Syed Babar Ali is a member of the Board of Directors of Aitchison College, Kinnaird College, and Lahore School of Economics.
He created Packages Ltd, Milkpak Ltd, IGI Group, and Tri-pack Films and brought several multinational companies to Pakistan including Tetrapak and Nestle.
He also promoted World Wide Fund (WWF) for nature in Pakistan while joined 250 Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners like Nelson Mandela who has become part of the Academy.
On Twitter, renowned educationist Asghar Zaidi shared the video of the ceremony of the Academy in honour of the Pakistani philanthropic leader in which Dr Syed Babar Ali also participated and inspired the audience.
Asghar Zaid said in the tweet, “Our old Ravian, philanthropist, and educationist Syed Babar Ali has been inducted as a member of the American Academy of Art and Sciences for his services to higher education in Pakistan. He becomes only the second Pakistani to earn this honor, after Dr. Abdus Salam, another Ravia.”
