PM to visit US on Sept 22, may meet Trump
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit the United States later this month to attend the UN General Assembly in New York, where he is likely to hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Sources said the prime minister will depart for the United Kingdom on September 20 before flying to the United States on September 22.
PM Shehbaz is scheduled to participate in the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. His visit is expected to focus on regional security, the Palestine conflict, and Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach amid ongoing global tensions.
Sources confirmed that Mr Sharif is likely to meet President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UNGA.
The meeting would mark another high-level engagement between Pakistan and the US following Trump’s recent interactions with Pakistan’s military leadership. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will accompany PM Sharif on the trip. Dar is also scheduled to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss bilateral ties, economic cooperation, and security matters.
