118 more die of coronavirus in Pakistan
The third wave of coronavirus in the country continues to be proved deadlier one as 118 more patients died in the past 24 hours (Wednesday) taking the death tally to 15,872, the latest data from the National Command and Control (NCOC) shows.
According to the latest figures, 5,395 new coronavirus cases emerged in the last 24 hours after conducting 64,685 tests. It takes the total cases tally to 739,818 that returned positive after conducting 10,942,771 total tests so far.
The number of active cases in the country is 77,294 with 4,276 patients in critical condition.
There were 4,740 more recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours as the number of total recovered cases reached 646,652 with an 87.4% recovery rate.
Punjab, the most populous province of the country, has reported 2,878 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 258,441 with 41,472 active cases. In Punjab, 68 more patients died of coronavirus as the death toll reached 7,209. With 2154 new recoveries, 209,760 patients have recovered from the virus in Punjab so far.
Sindh has recorded 470 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 270,310 with 6,778 active cases. Three new deaths were reported related to the deadly disease as the death toll reached 4,533. With 466 new recoveries, 258,999 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 1,245 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 102,290 with 12,998 active cases. The province reported 29 new virus-related deaths as the death toll reached 2,761. With 1,308 new recoveries, 86,531 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Balochistan has recorded another 81 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 20,580 with 886 active cases. The province reported two new deaths as the death toll reached 221. With 38 new recoveries, 19,473 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Islamabad has recorded 575 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 68,066 with 12,839 active cases. With 6 new deaths reported in the Federal Capital as the virus death toll reached 625. With 641 new recoveries, the number of recovered patients is 54,602 in the Federal Capital so far.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Azad Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 141 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 14,978 with 2,207 active cases. With 10 new deaths reported, the death toll reached 420. There were 130 new recoveries in the AJK as 12,351 patients have recovered so far from the virus.
Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 13 new cases during the last 24 hours, as the tally reached at 5,153 with 114 active cases. No new death reported in the province, the death toll remains at 103. There were 3 new recoveries reported as well as number of patients recovered from the deadly disease reaches 4,936.
