Balochistan launches wheat relief package with fuel subsidy for farmers

The Government of Balochistan has introduced an agricultural relief package, formally launching a thresher-fuel subsidy scheme aimed at supporting wheat growers across the province, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the implementation of the scheme has already begun, with subsidies transferred to the accounts of 3,102 farmers in the initial phase. He added that payments to a further 13,128 farmers would be completed within the next two to three days.

According to the chief minister, more than 85,000 farmers have been registered under the programme, while verification of over 74,000 applicants has already been finalised. He noted that priority is being given to small landowners and farmers who currently have ready wheat crops.

Mr Bugti said the fuel subsidy is expected to reduce the cost of operating threshers, thereby easing the financial burden on farmers during the harvesting season. He emphasised that the registration and verification process would continue, ensuring that all eligible small farmers receive financial support in phases.

He further stated that the provincial government stands with farmers during challenging economic conditions and remains committed to protecting agricultural production through effective measures.
