Pakistan and Oman agree to expand cooperation in higher education and research

Pakistan and Oman have agreed to strengthen collaboration in higher education and research, following a high-level meeting in Islamabad between education officials from both countries, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the development came during a meeting between the Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr Zia-ul-Haq, and the Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman, Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari. 

Both sides discussed ways to enhance academic ties and expand research partnerships between their institutions.

According to an official statement issued after the meeting, the two sides agreed to establish stronger linkages between universities in the two brotherly Islamic countries. 

They also explored new opportunities for academic exchange and joint research initiatives.

The statement added that HEC officials, including Member Dr Aurangzeb Khan and Advisor Dr Muhammad Ali Nasir, also attended the meeting. 

Participants held detailed consultations on identifying new avenues for bilateral educational cooperation.

The HEC reaffirmed its commitment to fully support joint academic programmes and facilitate closer institutional collaboration between Pakistan and Oman.
