Punjab CM Maryam okays construction of Phase-II of Masali Gaun project

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday approved Phase-II of Masali Gaun project under which 7,500 villages of the province would be transformed into model villages, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Under the project, the issue of water shortage in villages will be resolved.

The chief minister also sought from the concerned officials timeline for the completion of Phase-II of Masali Gaun project as well as water projects.

She also ordered digital monitoring of Masali Gaun project.

CM Maryam also ordered setting up of helpline 1336, which would make it sure that no water filtration plant remain dysfunctional.

Also on Wednesday, the Punjab government decided to construct SL-4 following the construction of SL-3.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting, presided over by Provincial Minister for Construction and Communication Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth.

In this connection, the department of C & W and Lahore Ring Authority was assigned the task.

A comprehensive briefing was given to the minister on the project.

Speaking on the occasion, Bherth said that over Rs45 billion would be spent on the construction of 18-kilometer long SL-4, which would connect Nazir Labana at Multan Road to Sharaqpur and would be completed in two years. “Interchanges and toll plazas will be built,” he said, adding that a bridge would also be built over the River Ravi.

Besides that, the minister said, a state-of-the-art service area would also be constructed.

He added that land would be acquired for the purpose.

Bherth ordered that a working group be formed forthwith so that work on the project could get underway. “SL-4 will be linked to SL-3,” he informed.

He said that distances which were earlier covered in hours, will now be covered in minutes courtesy SL-4. “It will also improve the living standards of the people of Sharaqpur.
