Saudi Arabia's $3bn support due in few days as FM Aurangzeb eyes IMF approval

Federal Minister for Finance Mohammad Aurangzeb has said that Saudi Arabia announced to provide an additional $3 billion in financial assistance and also extended the period of a $5 billion deposit in the State Bank of Pakistan, reported 24News HD TV Channel.
Speaking to the media in Washington at the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings 2026, Mohammad Aurangzeb said that Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves position has strengthened.
He further vowed to increase Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves to $18 billion, equivalent to the import bill for 3 months.
Mohammad Aurangzeb said that Saudi Arabia announced to strengthen financial relations with Pakistan.
He said Pakistan decided to enhance foreign funding in the international market and is determined to pay its foreign debt on time.
Mohammad Aurangzeb said that Pakistan repaid a $1.4 billion euro loan successfully. He further revealed that Pakistan is receiving a positive response from international financial institutions.
The Federal Finance Minister said that Saudi Arabia will provide $3 billion during next week, while Pakistan is optimistic that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Board will approve the next tranche of the loan soon.
Mohammad Aurangzeb said that Pakistan is facilitating talks between Iran and the United States of America, which is a good sign, and the world is recognising Pakistan's diplomatic efforts in this regard.
