A shocking incident has been reported from Green Town, Lahore, where a stepmother has allegedly killed a young girl during what she claimed were ritual practices, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
Police said the accused woman, identified as Nazia, confessed during interrogation to the murder of her stepdaughter Fatima.
A case of murder has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s biological mother.
According to the accused’s statement, she claimed that her actions were linked to spiritual rituals and that the “jinns” required harming children.
She further stated that another child, Fatima’s eight-year-old sister Kashf, was also subjected to violence during the same period.
Police confirmed that Kashf has been shifted for medical examination to assess injuries.
Authorities also stated that the accused had separated from her previous husband two years ago and later married another man, with several children involved in complex family arrangements.
Following the incident, three children from the household have been transferred to an Edhi welfare centre.
