Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s senior leader at the centre of sugar scandal, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Saturday said he has fulfilled a promise to provide sugar on the discounted rate to the Utility Stores.

In a tweet, he said JDW Sugar Mills Ltd has completed the supply of 20,000 tons of sugar to Utility Stores at the heavily discounted price of Rs 67/kg.

He tweeted: “I am pleased to confirm that, JDW Sugar Mills Ltd, has completed the supply of 20,000 tons of Sugar to Utility Stores at the heavily discounted price of Rs 67/kg. Current ex mill price is Rs 90/kg. Happy to have met my commitment made in a TV prgmme.”

Jahangir Tareen remains in his Hampshire country home after leaving Pakistan on a chartered plane – immediately after the publication of Sugar Commission report.

The former PTI General Secretary and business magnate left Pakistan after the Sugar Commission report was made public by the PTI government.

Since he left Pakistan there were many speculations that Tareen has meetings with Sharifs or other like-minded political personalities in the aftermath of ‘ill-treatment towards’ him by the PM Imran Khan.

However, he denied any such rumours and said that he was in London for having a routine medical check-up.

since the start of the month of August, Tareen continues to use Twitter to show his appreciation for the PTI government’s different projects despite being at odds with the party.

Most recently he praised the opening of BRT project in Peshawar and congratulated KP CM Mahmood Khan and Transport Minister Taimur Jhagra.

Many in the PTI still think that Tareen has given his life to PTI and he remains loyal to his party despite the fact that relations between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Tareen are not cordial but Tareen has publicly slated a few bureaucrats and advisor for fuelling wrong perceptions about him.

Known for his acumen and sharp political skills, Tareen is credited by his allies and foes both for helping the PTI for several years when there was hardly anyone else around to do the heavy lifting.

He’s credited with spending his own money to help the party gain media mileage and to make inroads in other parties ahead of general elections two years ago.
